YMCA of Greater Spartanburg - Basketball

The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation serving the Spartanburg, South Carolina area through youth development, healthy living and social-responsibility programmes. Its Youth Basketball programme is a developmental league for children aged three to 14 that teaches dribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership. The programme welcomes all genders, using coed teams where participation levels require it, and provides weekday practices with Saturday games; seasons include six games and a tournament finale for older age groups. The YMCA runs basketball through branches including Thomas E. Hannah YMCA, Middle Tyger YMCA and Polk County, and publishes schedules, standings and participant communications through its official QuickScores portal. Its youth-basketball rules and age-progressions adapt court size, ball size, game structure and development expectations for younger players. The YMCA also provides basketball skills, strength and conditioning sessions for ages eight to 14, and its branch facilities include basketball gyms.
