Scottish Handball Association

The Scottish Handball Association (SHA) is the national governing body and membership organisation for handball in Scotland. It is responsible for the governance and development of the sport across the country, and sportscotland identifies it as Scotland’s governing body for handball. The association was formed in 1972. Its official history records that handball activity in Scotland began in the 1960s and that the SHA was formally established on 1 August 1972. SHA runs Scottish leagues and competitions for all age groups, a National Academy for aspiring international players, referee development and club support. It centrally hosts a National Women’s League and two National Men’s Leagues at Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre; youth leagues and mini competitions are hosted regionally by member clubs. The association also operates national cup competitions, including youth Scottish Cup competition, and publishes league fixtures, results, tables, regulations and competition information.
