Georgia High School Association - Track and Field

United States - Track and Field

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) administers team track and field championships for boys and girls through Region and Area qualification. The programme publishes advisory information, area assignments, coaches handbooks and forms, certified pole-vault sites, rules and procedures, sectional schedules and sites, results, records and championship resources. In 2027, practice may begin on 18 January, meets on 8 February, Region and Area competition concludes on 24 April and the state championships are held on 7–8 May. The 2027 finals use Grisham Stadium in Carrollton and Kinnett Stadium in Columbus, with classes scheduled across both venues and adapted-sports competition included. GHSA meets follow the NFHS Track and Field and Cross Country Rule Book with stated association exceptions. Teams may schedule up to 12 meets, while an individual may compete in up to ten meets outside Region, Area, Sectional and State competition. Sectionals are held approximately a week before finals; the top eight finishers advance to the state meet, with replacement and relay-entry procedures managed through MileSplitGA. GHSA also provides an adapted ambulatory division, with boys’ and girls’ track and field events and qualification standards for students with permanent physical disabilities who meet association eligibility requirements.
