Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations - Cross Country

The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations administers the provincial secondary-school cross country championship in Ontario. Founded in 1948 and formally the governing body of Ontario high-school sport since 1952, OFSAA works through member associations and teacher-coaches to provide provincial competition and educational sport programmes. Cross country was one of the federation’s original six provincial championships and remains a core fall event. The 2026 OFSAA Cross Country Championship, presented by Nike Canada, is scheduled for 9 November, with the Big Nickel XC on the same course held on 5 October. Schools qualify and submit entries through their regional associations and the OFSAA HUB: teacher-coaches and athletic directors are responsible for eligibility rosters, consent and concussion documentation, supervision forms and registration. Association convenors submit regional results and team or individual entries through Track Database, which provides the official results platform. Registration materials for 2026 set a 31 October deadline for online association entries, while school paperwork is due to the HUB by 3 November. OFSAA retains extensive archives of boys’ and girls’ championship results, including events from 1966 onward, and awards an annual Cross Country Leadership in School Sport Award to a teacher who demonstrates sustained service, fair play and educational leadership. The official website supplies regulations, coaches’ instructions, schedules, participation information and historical results.
