Georgia High School Association - Competitive Cheer

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) governs competition cheerleading for member high schools in Georgia. Cheerleading is a state-championship sport in every classification for all-girl teams, with a separate open coed division; schools may field one varsity competitive team and competitions follow the National Federation Spirit Rules Book and the GHSA Competitive Cheerleading Manual. The 2026-27 season provides for regular sanctioned invitationals, regional and sectional contests on 7 November, and Cheerleading State Championships on 13-14 November at Macon Centreplex. Class A teams and private schools in classifications 2A-4A advance through sectionals, while regional alignment applies in classes 2A-7A; the coed sectional advances 16 teams to the state championship. GHSA publishes team schedules and results, sanctioned-event contracts, competition manuals, score sheets, state-championship information and historical champions. It also conducts a separate Game Day Cheerleading state championship, scheduled for 10-11 December 2026 at Macon Centreplex.
