Gibraltar Cricket

Gibraltar Cricket is the national governing body for cricket in Gibraltar. Formed as the Gibraltar Cricket Association in May 1960 to run domestic cricket on the Rock, it became an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council in 1969. The organisation oversees cricket from grassroots participation and domestic club competition to Gibraltar’s representative sides in International Cricket Council events. Its domestic calendar includes local tournaments such as the Dafabet Premier League and Midweek League, while the men’s team competes against other ICC Associate Members in T20 internationals and European qualifying competition. Gibraltar’s women’s and girls’ programme has also developed significantly: it received the ICC Best Women’s Cricket Initiative award in 2011 and returned to ICC women’s T20 international competition in 2024. Gibraltar Cricket supports player development through youth pathways and seeks to grow local participation, despite the territory’s small population. It is listed by Gibraltar’s public sports authority as the Gibraltar Cricket Association.
