Mediterranean Handball Confederation

The Mediterranean Handball Confederation (MHC) is a regional handball body serving countries around the Mediterranean. It began as the Mediterranean Handball Association in Cairo in 1999 and adopted its current name in Rome in 2003; its first Congress met in Castelo Branco in 2004. The MHC organises annual Mediterranean Men's and Women's Handball Championships, primarily as development competitions for young players. Its official competition platform provides news, schedules, results, rankings, photographs, livestreams and downloadable material. Recent editions have brought together teams from Africa, Asia and Europe, including Mediterranean members and invited teams. The MHC championships use their own traditional competition format: group-stage matches are played in three 15-minute periods, with points awarded by period, while knockout matches revert to total goals.
