Philippine Basketball Association

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is a professional men’s basketball league in the Philippines. Its official platform provides league news, team and player information, standings, schedules and event coverage, including the PBA D-League. The PBA is a member organisation of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), the Philippine national basketball federation. Philippine government information on the Games and Amusements Board identifies the PBA’s launch as the point at which professional basketball was brought under the Board’s regulatory supervision, formalised by Presidential Decree No. 871 in 1976. The league’s official communications describe its Board of Governors and its aim to provide basketball entertainment and develop the sport. This record covers the professional PBA competition and not the Philippines’ national federation or other domestic leagues.
