Georgia High School Association - Tennis

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) administers team tennis state championships for boys and girls, based on Region play in all classifications. The programme publishes forms, rules and procedures, brackets, schedules, Post Season Rankings, UTR guidance and boys’ and girls’ champion records. In 2026–27, practice may begin on 25 January, matches on 8 February and the state championship is scheduled for 12 May, with a rain date of 13 May. Classes A, AA and AAA play at John Drew Tennis Center, while 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A and Private play at Rome Tennis Center. State tournament matches use best-of-three full sets with no-ad scoring and follow USTA rules unless GHSA specifies otherwise. Teams play three singles and two doubles lines, while an athlete may participate in one singles or one doubles match only. Teams are limited to 18 varsity play dates outside Region and State tournaments; no interscholastic practices or scrimmages are permitted. The top four Region teams qualify through the GHSA Post Season Ranking Formula, with roster and lineup requirements designed to preserve order of ability and prevent stacking. GHSA maintains match-resumption, tiebreak, substitution, results-reporting and eligibility procedures for the programme.
