Virginia High School League

The Virginia High School League (VHSL) administers interscholastic tennis within its statewide programme for public and approved non-boarding, non-public high schools in Virginia. VHSL is a private nonprofit alliance that establishes standards for school activities and competitions, including eligibility, governance, sportsmanship and post-season administration. Its official handbook and policy manual provide the authoritative framework for member-school activities. The League comprises 315 member schools, classified by enrolment into six classes and organised geographically into Regions and Districts. Districts conduct regular-season programmes, schools advance through Regional tournaments and then state tournament play. VHSL maintains standards across 27 sports, including girls’ and boys’ sport programmes, and operates its activities through member-school principals, classification boards, regional councils, district councils and an Executive Committee.
