Georgia High School Association - Wrestling

United States - Wrestling

The Georgia High School Association administers boys’ and girls’ interscholastic wrestling for member schools across Georgia. GHSA competition includes team dual championships and traditional individual wrestling, with published classifications, region or area assignments, tournament procedures, weight-management requirements, state brackets and championship records. For boys’ dual competition, the 2026-27 programme uses seven classifications; girls compete in two divisions at the dual state level. Traditional wrestling uses five boys’ divisions and two girls’ divisions, with qualifying area and state tournaments followed by the State Traditional Finals. The two leading teams from each region or area advance to the double-elimination team-dual state tournament. For traditional competition, the top eight boys and top four girls in each weight class from each state tournament qualify for the finals; wrestlers must compete at their certified weight. The 2026 traditional state championships took place from 11 to 14 February at the Arena at Southlake and recognised 98 individual champions. Team champions were Camden County, South Effingham, Woodland-Cartersville, Jefferson, East Jackson, Social Circle and Lumpkin County in the girls’ division. The 2027 traditional finals are scheduled for 10 to 13 February at the Arena at Southlake, while boys’ team duals are set for 15-16 January and girls’ team duals for 22-23 January. Official GHSA coverage provides regulations, schedules, brackets, results, championship history and viewing information.
