Virginia High School League

The Virginia High School League (VHSL) administers Virginia high-school swimming and diving, setting eligibility and competition standards and conducting regional and state championships across Classes 1 to 6. Schools may schedule up to 10 regular-season meets, excluding district, regional and state championships. The VHSL handbook provides entry, relay and state-qualification requirements; relay teams can advance by placing first through fourth at a regional championship or by meeting the state qualifying standard at a regional or qualifying regular-season meet. The official swim-and-dive portal publishes season dates, rules clinics, class standards, championship resources and regional and state results. For 2026-27, practice begins 9 November 2026, first contests begin 30 November, regional competition starts 3 February 2027 and the state championships are held from 15 to 20 February. Class 1 and 2 swimming and diving are scheduled at Christiansburg Aquatic Center, while Classes 3 through 6 use SwimRVA. The results portal provides separate boys’ and girls’ state and regional results for each class.
