South Atlantic Conference - Cross Country
United States - Cross Country
The South Atlantic Conference administers men’s and women’s cross country for NCAA Division II institutions in the southeastern United States. The SAC, an NCAA Division II member conference since 1990, establishes sport policies, championship schedules and competitive administration for its member institutions. Its 2026-27 championship schedule places the men’s and women’s cross country championships on 7 November at Wingate, North Carolina. The conference’s Southeast Region cross country members include Anderson, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Coker, Emory & Henry, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial, Mars Hill, Newberry, Tusculum, UVA Wise and Wingate. Wingate University is the defending SAC champion in both men’s and women’s cross country for 2025-26; the Wingate men also won the 2025 NCAA Division II national championship, while the women placed a programme-best third nationally. In the 2026 preseason, both Wingate squads were selected to win the SAC titles and the university was scheduled to host the conference championship at the WU Cross Country Facility. SAC cross country teams progress from conference competition to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional and national championship structure. The official conference site publishes championship calendars, policy manuals, historical champions, news and results.
