Public Schools Athletic League

The Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL) is New York City Public Schools' interscholastic athletics programme for public high schools. Established in 1903, it coordinates competition across 25 varsity sports for more than 45,000 student-athletes at over 400 member schools. Flag football is one of its spring sports, with PSAL coordinators and commissioners administering the competition. The league uses school-based athletic programmes to develop physical fitness, character, socialisation, discipline and sportsmanship. Student-athletes must meet PSAL eligibility requirements and submit required physical-examination and parental-consent documentation through their schools.
