Mid-American Conference - Football

The Mid-American Conference administers NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision competition for its member universities. Founded in 1946, the MAC is one of the nation’s oldest collegiate conferences and is a 12-full-member FBS conference; Sacramento State joined its football competition as a football-only member in 2026. The conference runs an eight-game league schedule through 2027, with the top two teams by conference winning percentage advancing to the MAC Football Championship Game. The 2026 championship is the 30th edition and is scheduled for Ford Field in Detroit. MAC football is widely associated with its nationally televised midweek “MACtion” schedule, while regular-season and championship coverage is carried by ESPN networks and CBS Sports Network.
