South Dakota High School Activities Association Softball

The South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) directs and coordinates interscholastic activities for its voluntary member high schools in South Dakota. In softball, SDHSAA administers the fastpitch season, maintains sport-specific rules and officials’ requirements, and conducts the state championship series. The postseason uses seeded SoDak 16 qualifying contests before state tournaments for Classes AA, A and B. The association publishes tournament information, brackets, schedules, alignments, handbooks and rules guidance, while applying National Federation rules with South Dakota-specific provisions. Its stated purpose is to provide leadership in activities that enrich high-school students’ educational experience.
