The Summit League - Softball

The Summit League administers NCAA Division I softball competition for its member institutions and runs the annual Summit League Softball Championship. The 2026 conference season was played over seven consecutive weekends from 20-22 March through 3 May, with seven teams participating in league play. Omaha won its second consecutive regular-season title and entered the postseason as the No. 1 seed with a 15-2 conference record. The six-team 2026 Summit League Softball Championship took place from 6 to 9 May at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium in Minneapolis, hosted by St. Thomas in its first season eligible for postseason competition. The event opened with two single-elimination games, followed by a double-elimination bracket; all games streamed on the Summit League Network. Fourth-seeded South Dakota won its first conference tournament title, beating three-time defending tournament champion Omaha 2-1 in the winner-take-all final, and received the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Summit League coaches select annual all-league and individual awards, including Player, Pitcher, Defensive Player and Freshman of the Year. The league publishes schedules, standings, championship brackets, results, statistics, news and awards through its official website.
