New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association - Softball

United States - Softball

The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) administers interscholastic softball for member high schools in New Jersey. The programme provides online entry and conflict-of-interest procedures, tournament and regular-season regulations, classifications, National Federation rule updates, rule modifications, PowerPoint guidance and committee records. In 2027, practice may begin on 8 March and competition on 15 March; the entry period is 1–10 May, the cutoff is 15 May, seeding is 18 May and regular-season competition concludes on 13 June. The public state tournament runs from 25 May to state finals at Rutgers University on 12 June, while the non-public tournament runs from 24 May to finals at Ivy Hill Park on 9 June. Varsity teams qualify and are seeded through the NJSIAA PowerPoint system, with the top 16 teams in each section and group qualifying; teams must also meet the New Jersey-opponent, roster, schedule and eligibility requirements. Tournament games follow current NFHS Softball Rules together with NJSIAA modifications. The regular-season rules permit no more than 24 games, including interschool scrimmages after the regular season begins, and prohibit a player from scrimmaging on three consecutive days. The tournament regulations require certified athletic trainers at NJSIAA tournament events, prescribe reporting and entry processes, and use an extra-innings runner-on-second procedure beginning in the tenth inning. The NJSIAA Softball Committee supports the programme by reviewing regulations, post-season administration, officials and rule changes.
