District of Columbia State Athletic Association

The District of Columbia State Athletic Association (DCSAA) governs and administers interscholastic athletics for participating public, public charter, independent, private and parochial schools in Washington, D.C. Established in 2012 by the Executive Office of the Mayor and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, it sets uniform standards, eligibility rules and competition procedures for District school sport. Basketball is one of DCSAA's principal winter sports. The association conducts boys' and girls' basketball state championships in Class A and Class AA, progressing through playoff rounds to championship finals, and publishes brackets, schedules, results, sport rules and event information. DCSAA also recognises basketball student-athletes through its winter All-State selections and operates the DC LIVE interscholastic basketball showcase. Its statewide structure is intended to support fair, well-run competition and educational athletic opportunities for District student-athletes.
