Sooner Athletic Conference

The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) conference founded in 1978 by five Oklahoma-based institutions. Its membership has expanded across the south-central United States, including institutions in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. The SAC administers men’s and women’s basketball regular seasons, standings, awards and championship tournaments, and publishes schedules, results and tournament information through its official platform. Its 2026 championships used an eight-team format for each basketball competition at Oklahoma City University’s Abe Lemons Arena. Oklahoma City won the 2026 SAC men’s tournament and received one of the conference’s automatic berths in the NAIA Men’s Basketball Tournament. This record concerns the collegiate conference and its basketball competitions, not an individual college, professional league or national basketball federation.
