American Athletic Conference - Basketball

United States - Basketball

American Conference Basketball is the men’s and women’s NCAA Division I basketball competition administered by the American Conference, formerly the American Athletic Conference. The conference was founded in 1979, reconstituted in 2013 and rebranded as the American Conference in 2025. Its official platform provides schedules, standings, statistics, results, tournament brackets and broadcast coverage for 13 men’s and 13 women’s teams. South Florida won the 2026 men’s championship and NCAA automatic bid, while sixth-seeded UTSA defeated Rice 54–40 to win the women’s championship and NCAA berth at Legacy Arena in Birmingham. The 2027 women’s and men’s championships are scheduled at Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. This profile concerns the American Conference basketball organiser and championships, not a member university or unrelated American-named league.
