Conference of New England

The Conference of New England (CNE) is an NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic conference in New England. Founded in 1984 as the Commonwealth Coast Conference, it was reconstituted as the Conference of New England in 2024, preserving the conference’s competition structure under a new name and brand. The CNE administers championships in collegiate sports including men’s and women’s basketball, publishes schedules and tournament information, and maintains basketball records. Its official material describes the conference as comprising New England member institutions and administering championship competition, while its 2026–27 basketball schedules and 2026 men’s championship demonstrate current operation. NCAA Division III records list the Conference of New England as the former Commonwealth Coast Conference and include the predecessor conference as a men’s basketball automatic-qualification league. This record concerns the collegiate conference and its basketball competitions, not a professional league or national basketball federation.
